What's the Best Bed for a Bad Back?

Lower back pain is the most common form of chronic discomfort, currently affecting more than 26 million Americans between the ages of 20-64. More than just experiencing its daily torment, however, those with this agonizing condition know it also interferes with vital everyday activities and functions, such as sleep. Nearly two-thirds of sufferers report problems slumbering, which can increase pain, stress and fatigue.

While there may be many factors causing your back pain, changing your mattress may be a step in the right direction. Sleeping on an outdated mattress no longer properly supporting the spine can facilitate and even exacerbate such discomfort. A new bed, along with proper, daily back maintenance—such as exercise and stretching—may be the perfect solution. Don't make the mistake of buying just any mattress, however. Make sure it's specifically designed to help alleviate chronic back pain.

PangeaBed: The Best Bed for a Bad Back

PangeaBed's story begins several years ago, when our cofounder Bobby was shopping for a new mattress. He needed one that would help alleviate his back pain, but wasn't happy with those on the market. Expressing this frustration to his friend Martin, they decided to build the best bed for a bad back themselves, and thus, PangeaBed was born.

After years of research, they ended up with a medium-firm mattress consisting of four unique layers of the most innovative and high-quality materials in the industry. Together, these work to keep sleepers' spines in optimal alignment, regardless of whether they slumber on their sides, stomachs, or backs.

1. The Cover

We've added 5/8" of soft foam to our cover. Unlike our competitors, who use cheap alternatives—such as a woven zipper cover, for example—this extra-high-quality foam provides added comfort, ensuring the mattress supports every curve of the body, especially the spine.

2. Copper-Infused 100% Pure Talalay latex

We don't cut costs when it comes to the layers comprising our mattress. We use Talalay latex, considered the gold standard of latex foam, which delivers superior spinal support, as you sleep. Thanks to its unique cell structure, Talalay latex is naturally bouncy and directly responds to your body. The more pressure put on the mattress, the greater support the Talalay provides. This keeps the spine in its natural alignment, and helps reduce associated pains. Talalay also relieves up to 33 percent more pressure than other latex-creating procedures, such as the Dunlop process.

3. PangeaBed™ Cool Gel

The next layer is composed of our signature Cool Gel Memory Foam, which softens to conform to the unique shape of the body and spine, and responds to pressure from hips and elbows. Keeping your spine fully supported and in optimal alignment, it doesn't overheat, and ensures the perfect temperature while you sleep.

4. Support Base

While other companies use convoluted egg crate foams in their mattress, the base of ours is a thick layer of high-density foam that conforms to your body weight and offers superior support to your spine. This solid core contributes to its support, stability and longevity.

After sleeping on the PangeaBed mattress for a few months, many customers have reported that their back pain has improved, or even disappeared altogether.

But don't just take our word for it. Here's the testimony of one of our many satisfied sleepers:

"Fell in Love the very first night we slept together! My back was hurting so bad in the mornings I could barely walk! Since I got my new PangeaBed, a couple of months ago, I get up feeling great! It is so comfortable and I sleep better than I have in Years! Thank you so much!"
